Mental Health and Wellbeing
We have taken part in Place 2Be Children’s Mental Health Week from the 5th to the 9th of February 2024 which was an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the importance of children’s mental health.
This year’s theme was My Voice Matters !
My Voice Matters ! is about empowering children and young people by providing them with the tools they need to express themselves. When we feel empowered, this can have a positive impact on our wellbeing. Children and young people who feel that their voices are heard and make a difference have a greater sense of community and self-esteem.
At Holly House School we want children of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to be empowered to work together to create a positive change for their mental health and wellbeing.
This is how Holly House School took part in Children's Mental Health Week this year:
- The launch of Mental Health Ambassadors - Presentations, posters, and interviews took place.
- So Many Hearts make a School - activity / display - The whole community helped create a display of love hearts of things that make them happy, grateful and laugh. (see photo)
- 'My Voice Matters activities from Place2Be
- 'My Voice Matters - familiar faces from the world of TV, music and sport have shared their stories of why your voice matters.

After school activities linking in the '5 Ways to Wellbeing'

The student council took an active part in appointing a new member of staff for the residential unit.
- During the week each class took part in lessons on Mental Health and Wellbeing
- Dress to express - non uniform day allowed clothing to be worn to express yourself.
- Mental Health and Wellbeing posters - Pupils designed posters to promote the importance of mental health and wellbeing.
